Radiology is a medical specialty that employs the use of imaging for diagnosis and treatment of disease visualized within the body. Our Radiographers use an array of imaging technologies such as plain and contrast radiography (x-rays) and Ultrasound scan, for the diagnosis of ailments.

  • Plain Head x-ray, Neck x-ray, Back x-ray, abdominal x-ray, Chest x-ray, Pelvic x-ray, Limb x-ray, skeletal survey.
  • Contrast x-ray examinations
  • Intravenous pyelography (IVP), cystourethrography, hysterosalpingography (HSG), barium swallow, barium follow through, barium meal, barium enema
  • Ultrasound Scan
  • Obstetric scan, breast scan, gynecological scan, prostate scan, thyroid scan, general abdomen scan, scrotal scan

When should I have an ultrasound scan done?

  • When I am Pregnant
  • Suspected abdominal injury following accidents
  • Pain in any part of the body
  • Swelling or mass on or in the body
  • Suspected hernia
  • Persistent fever of unknown cause.

PATIENT PREPARATION

  • Plain x-ray: No special preparation is required.
  • Contrast x-ray examinations. Instructions will be given depending on examination to be done which may include; low residual diet for 3 days, high enema wash out ,fasting on the day of examination etc.
  • ULTRASOUND SCAN: You may be required to drink water in order to have a full bladder or have an overnight fasting.
