Founded in 1965 by the Africa Inland Mission under the leadership of Dr. Carl Becker, Kagando Hospital has grown into one of the leading faith-based healthcare institutions in Western Uganda.

Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery under KARUDEC as a church founded project envisions that the growth of the community believes is enhanced for them in His Kingdom.

Our Vision

To promote holistic health care of the community through health staff training of high moral and professional standard.

Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery is one of the sections run by Kagando Rural Development Center. KARUDEC is a ministry arm of the church of Uganda in the Anglican Diocese of South Rwenzori which is involved in holistic development of the community. SCHOOL OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY started as a nursing Aide school as early as 1965 and on 3/11/1998, the school was officially opened with nationally recognized courses and certified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council and Ministry of Education and Sports with a population of 32 students and currently the school has got a population of 350 students. Courses being offered are Enrolled Nursing, Enrolled Midwifery, Diploma in Nursing direct, Diploma in midwifery direct, Diploma in midwifery Extension, Diploma in Nursing Extension, and Diploma in midwifery E-learning,

Kagando School of Medical laboratory Technology which is Our sister school also offers Certificates and Diplomas in Medical Laboratory Technology and certificates and diplomas in theatre techniques.

Very soon the school will be offering degrees in many fields. We are in preparation for the planned University college in collaboration with Uganda Christian University.
